We never felt a wave, and Amelia Island and St. Augustine were the stars of the show. One of our clients wrote on our Instagram Page that Amelia Island was her happy place. The ship has a fitness facility that’s well-stocked with exercise machines, free weights, and yoga mats for use by passengers.
The staff on cruise ship were amazing
Attire is casual at all times, but you are free to dress up for cocktails, dinner and the evening show. Unlike large cruise liners, there are no formal nights on The Melody. There are complimentary excursions at every port, or you can choose from inexpensive ($25-$45) tours.
The history of the mississippi
Colin, Thania, Mark and Princess get high marks for their service and dedication. American Cruise Lines says that the average age for all of its passengers is low 60s. But that's not what we observed on our Lower Mississippi River cruise. On that sailing, the average age was easily 75, with many passengers older than that. Because the ship has an elevator and the staff makes accommodations for people with mobility issues, it's an excellent choice for those who feel rigorous travel is beyond them.

Excellent service, superb food, comfortable quarters and interesting excursions. Particularly noteworthy are the two Grand Suites that measure 900 square feet apiece and include balconies that wrap around the stern of the ship, offering 270-degree views of the Mississippi River. These suites also boast separate living and sleeping areas with floor-to-ceiling glass windows. Complimentary room service is offered to all passengers during mealtimes.

Love history so the speaker are always a hit for me. There wasn't a single aspect of my cruise on the lower Mississippi River that I would change. The employees were all very kind and helpful, they went out of their way to make everything enjoyable....
Mississippi River Cruise
There certainly was incentive – a 15% discount if you put down a deposit before leaving the ship. I didn’t – only because I’ve got too many road trips planned. As many repeat passengers were settling accounts – paying for shore excursions and tips – they were also booking future cruises. All cabins aboard American Harmony offer private balconies and range from 250 to 900 square feet in size. Two cabins designed specifically for solo travelers are available, while three different categories of suites are available for those seeking more personal space. Special menus are available to passengers on restricted diets.

One of the ship’s crew members photographing the sunrise at Amelia Island. The talks about history of the area were both entertaining and informative. The shore trips were well planned and informative. I became very fond of Dawn and Jay Ponce from Yuma, AZ – a retired school Principal and her business-owner husband.
The bedding was plump, soft, and dreamy, almost impossible to emerge from in the dawn hour. But emerge I did to sit up and lift the shade to watch, transfixed, the daily sunrise over a calm or choppy Chesapeake Bay. My appreciation for this cocoon of a room increased over the week. In addition, space for relaxing and lounging is provided on each level of the ship's four-story atrium, and a small library with destination-relevant books is situated all the way at the back of the ship on 2nd Deck.
Staff on our floor were very accommodating, as was pretty much all crew, guides and bus drivers.Food was prepared well, portions reasonable and options for a half-order or changes to the menu on the fly. So nice not to worry about preparing the next meal, like at home! I would have liked a "lunch bar" similar to the breakfast bar on Deck 4.
Itinery was interesting, and land excursions were good. Can't wait to sail with American Cruise lines again. Smaller ships are SO much better than huge crowded ones. The always pleasant staff was a highlight of the trip. When I considered the cost prior to the trip I was dismayed, but once on board I thought I got a bargain.
The new fleet has been designed to sail in all types of water; small enough for New England harbors, stable enough for the Alaska Inside Passage and with a draft shallow enough for the Atlantic Intracoastal Waterway. American Glory will sail on the East Coast and the rest of the fleet will be deployed across the U.S. All of the ships are being constructed by the line's sister shipyard, Chesapeake Shipbuilding in Maryland.
